What equipment do I need?

The DIRECTV Recorder System includes a DIRECTV Digital Satellite Recorder, a mini satellite dish antenna with a dual-output LNB and a universal remote control. The recorder with remote control will also be sold without a dish antenna for customers who already have DIRECTV service. In order to enjoy the full benefits of this service, your recorder must be continuously connected to a land-based phone line and two (2) satellite inputs from a dual-LNB DIRECTV System. You'll find the recorder under the Hughes Network Systems manufacturer name.

Yes, the DIRECTV Digital Satellite Recorder can record two shows at once. In fact, it can even record two shows while you watch a third, previously recorded show. To take full advantage of this feature, you'll need to ensure that two (2) satellite inputs from a dual-LNB DIRECTV System dish antenna are connected to the DIRECTV Digital Satellite Recorder.

How long are programs stored once they've been recorded?

The DIRECTV DVR service will only delete programs when the recorder has reached its full recording capacity and needs to make room for other shows you've requested it to record. When this occurs, DIRECTV DVR will first delete TiVo Suggestions followed by the oldest recorded programs not marked "Keep Until I Delete". You can easily control how long programs are stored using recording "Options". It's also easy to transfer any recorded program to tape using your VCR.

TOTAL CHOICE PREMIER customers will receive the DIRECTV DVR service free of charge as long as they maintain their subscription to the TOTAL CHOICE PREMIER package. If they downgrade to a package other than TOTAL CHOICE PREMIER, a $4.99 monthly fee will apply.
